As we celebrate July 4th during these challenging times, remember the real meaning of America’s Independence Day by looking at the Declaration of Independence. It is about ending the tyranny of colonialism, about uniting to recognize equal rights and about creating government by the consent of the governed to secure liberty, justice and freedom. Watch our latest video about this right here.

As the U.S. re-examines long-standing injustices in our society, we have a pressing need to re-align with our highest American Values. We have the opportunity to put these values into action by ending fundamentally undemocratic, unequal and unjust territory status which has held Puerto Rico back for over 120 years, and unleashing the power of equality and prosperity through statehood.

Most Americans already support statehood for Puerto Rico. But we need to make Congress take action.

Together we can transform Puerto Rico with equality through statehood and re-invigorate American Democracy.
