Congressman Darren Soto Report

Dear friends and neighbors,
We are preparing to return to Washington, D.C., next week to continue our efforts to pass the Build Back Better Act. In the Natural Resources Committee, we already passed $25.6 billion in investments, including funds to support an offshore oil drilling ban, create a Civilian Climate Corps, and advance ocean carbon capture efforts.
On Monday, we will begin reviewing the act in the Energy and Commerce Committee. I look forward to working across the aisle to ensure that we consider the positive implications that closing Florida’s Medicaid gap, lowering drug costs, and expanding Medicare, among others will have on our Central Florida community.
Building Back Better also includes getting out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Joe Biden has outlined a six-part, science-based approach which includes vaccinating the unvaccinated, further protecting the vaccinated, keeping schools safely open, increasing testing and requiring masking, protecting our economic recovery, and improving care for those with COVID-19.
I support these efforts and will do my part to help the Biden administration achieve its goals.
In Central Florida, getting our community vaccinated continues to be our main priority. Below you will find information on vaccination sites throughout our district. Additionally, the CDC recommends that people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after the initial two doses. Subject to authorization by the USDA and CDC, booster shots will be available to all Americans beginning eight months after their second dose of an mRNA vaccine.
For more information about booster shots, please visit this website.Working for FL-09Supporting President Biden’s Path Out of the PandemicOn Thursday, President Joe Biden shared his plan to stop the spread of the Delta variant, increase vaccinations, and lead us out of the pandemic.
The President’s action plan includes imposing new vaccination requirements, providing access to booster shots, increasing the accessibility of testing, supporting our hospitals, protecting our economic recovery, and keeping our schools safely open.
It is essential that we all take the necessary steps to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities.
